We are delighted to be in the position to offer this beautiful Mercedes 170S for sale
The Mercedes-Benz 170 S was introduced in 1949 to offer a slightly larger and more luxury car than the pre-war model 170V which was in production from 1935 to 1942 and again from 1947 to 1955. The 170 S was fitted with an upgrade of the 1697 cc M136 engine from the 170V by increasing the capacity to 1767cc and with that increasing the output to 52 HP from the previous 38 HP. Performance was correspondingly enhanced, with a stated top speed of 122 km/h (76 mph) still using the well proven four speed all-synchromesh transmission of the 170 V.
The car we are offering here was manufactured in 1952 and is in a near perfect condition
We have a folder with invoices going back to 1976 when the car underwent a complete restoration. In 1986 the car was sold to Switzerland where the owner spent in excess of 130,000 SF to maintain and continuously improve the car.
In 2015 the now owner bought the car in Switzerland and continued the upkeep of this extraordinary vehicle. The car received a rust protection treatment whereby the underside and all cavities where injected with a wax-grease solution.
Unfortunately the paint work is showing a bit of micro blistering mainly on the front wings as well as a crack on the front left wing (please see photographs) but nothing that would take from the overall appearance of the car.
We are happy to show you the car and all the accompanying documents and pictures here at our show room in Glenbeigh
